We will do our best to assess any possible risks for users (and in particular for children) from third parties when they use any interactive service provided on our site, and we will decide in each case whether it is appropriate to use moderation of the relevant service (including what kind of moderation to use) in the light of those risks. A competition will run from 1 January to 31 December each year. There are ten categories within the competition. The competition includes a quarterly competition for each category, an annual competition for each category and an overall annual competition.
You must be a full member to enter the competition.
The competition is only open to individuals aged 18 years or over, except:
If you are under 18 years old then you confirm that your parent or guardian consents to you entering into the competition.
In entering the competition, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to claim any prize you may win. We may require you to provide proof that you are eligible to enter the competition.
Entries cannot be for commercial nor promotional gain.
All entries must be received by 31 December in the year of the competition. All entries received after this date are automatically disqualified. You can enter for the next year’s competition subject to becoming a full member for that year.
You can upload your entries to the competition in the categories set out here. You can upload your image into more than one category but this will be treated as separate competition entries.
There is no maximum amount of entries a full member can make in any competition subject to the payment of the relevant additional fees set out here.
You can upload your image as taken on any device provided that (i) the minimum upload is 150dpi and (ii) the maximum upload restriction is 10MB per file.
All entries must be your original work and must not infringe the rights of any other party. You must be the sole owner of copyright in all photographs entered and must have obtained permission of any people featured in the entries or their parents/guardians if children under 16 are featured. Further, you must not have breached any laws when taking your photographs.
There is no restriction on re-entering images previously judged in any competition (including any previous Cotient competition).
The competition entries will be voted for by other full members in accordance with the number of votes which they have acquired as a full member.
You are not permitted to vote for yourself.
Votes cast by you in a calendar quarter can be changed by you at any time within the same calendar quarter. Votes cast by you in a calendar quarter cannot be changed by you after the expiry of that calendar quarter.
At the end of each calendar quarter and at the end of the year we will count the number of votes for each image.
In the unlikely event the votes of the full members show there is a tie then the overall winner will be decided by Cotient Limited Board Members and their decision shall be final.
Every calendar quarter there are ten £75.00 prizes available (one for each category). The winners will be announced to all members by email within the first month following the close of the quarterly competition.
Every calendar year there will be one first place overall prize of at least £2,000.00, a second place overall prize of at least £1,000.00, a third place overall prize of £500.00 all of which are calculated as the most votes for any image in any category. A final £250.00 prize will be awarded by the Cotient Board Members for what they consider to be an image showing outstanding achievement. The winner(s) will be announced to all members by email within the first month following the close of the annual competition.
All winners may be invited to an exhibition to showcase their image.
By entering, you will be deemed to have agreed to be bound by these rules and we reserve the right to exclude any entry from the competition at any time and in our absolute discretion if we have reason to believe that an entrant has breached these rules.
We reserve the right to cancel this competition or alter any of the rules at any stage, if deemed necessary in our opinion, and if circumstances arise outside of our control.
If the winner is unable to be contacted after reasonable attempts have been made we reserve the right to either offer the prize to a runner up, or to re-offer the prize in any future competition.
This competition is administered and promoted by Cotient Limited of 35 Station Approach, West Byfleet, Surrey KT14 6NF.
